2026 NFL Draft - Draft Class Grades

The yearly disclaimer before we get to the fun we won’t really know about these drafts until 3-5 years out but that’s no fun let’s throw around rampant and irresponsible speculation.

I made some tweaks to the 30,000 foot view this year by adding what look more like how people normally do grade in the traditional (trad.) grade column with is just based on a relatively normal grading scale and ranges from A to C+ based on the average of all the grades I gave to each pick. My draft grade incorporated # of picks, the average (Ave. Grade) I gave to the players in the process, the average of the position and position depth grades of each player (Ave. MAAG), the total projected AV of a teams picks (Total AV), the weighted grades based on the round of the pick (AV Weighted Grade %), and a slight adjustment for value gained in trades (Trade) which all culminates in an overall Draft Grade on a curve with a 0 being a C. Each standard deviation represents a letter grade difference. This is all to add context to what I think is at least a slight failure in normal draft grades in which the expected value of a draft isn’t always incorporated into how they are rated and compared. This does mean a team like the Broncos who drafted ok with there first couple of picks but did an excellent job on their late picks doesn’t get artificially bumped up but a team like Philly who nailed there highest leverage picks gets rewarded.

A quick note about the headers, Ovr Rank is the rank on my big board which is based on MAAG which is a combo of positional value and value compared to the positional class adjustment of the Player Grade, Pos is the players position, Pick AV is the expected AV based on historic approx. value of players at that position, Pick Grade is the grade I gave during the draft, and Weighted Grade% is that grade adjusted for the general value of the round based on AV.

Loved the start getting Ioane, and Young was a solid value, the best pick might be Benny in 7th. I like this class a bit more than the system but ultimately reaching a lot in the middle of the round and taking a specialist really hurt this grade.

If Cleveland gets the production from this draft they got from last it will be a fantastic base even if they don’t have the QB quite yet. A potential for at least 3-4 more starters would be a fantastic haul.

Don’t take a specialist in the draft! Even if your starter is absolute ass. This class is why I try and explain how the grade comes out the way it does because I very much like how they utilized a small class and came away with 3 players in my top-100. It’s definitely better than a D+ but contextually it’s a limited value draft historically.

This is the type of draft you need to begin your rebuild without a QB. It isn’t without risk but I believe they found starters at OT, CB, and OBLB and solid potential starters at OBLB, WR, and Edge. On a team devoid of a lot of talent this has the potential to be a stabilizing draft.

Well, Shough should have a solid group around him to continue to improve with Tyson and Lance bringing athleticism and speed, Miller strengthens the front for the defense and Delp is talented but needs to prove to be more than just a blocker.

The Giants made great use of their 4 top-75 picks and took 4 of my top-60 players. My only real gripe is Reese, Burns, and Carter are all very similar archetypes. That said having increasingly deep talent on the edge is a problem that many would like to have especially with some positional wiggle room between edge and off-ball linebacker.

You can quibble with Bailey vs Reese, and I’m not a huge fan of Sadiq with the investment in Taylor last season but this is the best draft in my opinion. Potential starters at 3-5 positions including at 4 premium positions would be an absolutely fantastic haul.

Philly had a very strong draft, even their lowest graded pick (Bernard) is an incredible athlete with an abundance of potential.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Iheanachor but he’s a solid prospect, and he and Dunker should help shore up a questionable line situation. They then spent day 2 adding good footballers, and Allar, and day 3 taking swings.

Price feels like a forced pick because of positional depth in the draft and on the depth chart. The rest of the draft kind of makes you shrug, outside of Clark and Stephens.

Tampa had a wonderful draft, 7 picks, 5 in my top-75 with great value at 15, 84, 116, & 160. This is how you restock a team and take what comes to you in the draft.

Tate goes to a team where he’ll be the #1 and that worries me but coming back into the 1st for Faulk makes for a nice haul in the first. It’s not a home run of a draft like the Jets but it’s a solid job for your 1st year head coach.

Styles is everything you want in a modern linebacker, Williams adds talent to the receiving corps and Allen and Gulbin add good lottery tickets to positions of need.
