Wide
Receiver is absolutely stacked with 15 players in my top 2 tiers and 52
rounding out the top 4. The league shifting a bit more towards bigger lineups
and slightly more rushing means the latter receivers are a bit more of
crapshoot but all in the level of talent in the league at wide receiver is patently
ridiculous.

No
big surprises here, I think you could convince me it should be a tier of 2 and
a tier of 4 but I think all of them deserve to be here with crazy combinations
of talent, experience, and usage.

Wilson
might be the guy I’m highest on in the top two tiers of any position in fantasy
this year. I think he’s insanely talented, and that with the offensive line
giving Geno time I think he’ll be able to spam Wilson targets, I’ve brough his
rank down just a touch but he’s a player I really like at value this year. As
far as my changes I moved Olave from the bottom of this tier to the top
because I was just too low and now with Tyson out for potentially a quarter of
the year he’s by far and away the best player on the Saints offense and Moore
will continue to scheme through him in New Orleans.

Now
we get into some better arguments so let’s run through everyone I’m at least half
a positional tier (6 ranks) different from ADP:
Thomas (16 vs 33) – I trust the talent, there were hiccups in year 1
under Coen but the news suggests they are much more on the same page this year.
Pickens
(18 vs 10) – I think the league has recalibrated on Pickens and
we’ll see some regression. I don’t think he’s bad by any means I’m just a
believer that he’s due to come back down to earth from the heights of last
season.
Moore
(19 vs 25) – I’ve been a Moore believer most of his career, he
was slightly disappointing in Chicago but he’s the best receiver by a long shot
in Buffalo.
Rice
(22 vs 11) – Rice is coming off a massive injury and a tumultuous
offseason, he’s talented but not without risk.
Flowers
(23 vs 15) – Flowers needs to score TDs, he’s never been above
4 in a season, if he does that, he’s well worth 15th overall.
Tate
(24 vs 30) – Tate will be the WR 1 in Tennessee, he’s an
experienced player and should slot in to a nice role. I have him as the last
WR2, and there’s a chance my projection has him a bit undervalued target share-wise.
Metcalf
(26 vs 34) – The variance in what the offense could be is huge
but Metcalf is a physical freak and finished as a high-end WR3 last year.
Waddle
(29 vs 21) – I’ll probably end up closer to ADP but I’m not
sure there ends up being a huge difference in target share between him and Sutton
and I think Denver throws enough for both to be viable pieces in fantasy.
Burden
(30 vs 22) – The injury had me drop him a bit farther than I
already was but I think the Burden hype got a bit out of hand this offseason
even if I think he’s going to be a very good and useful player.
Williams
(32 vs 26) – Good player, deep threat on a team who’s offensive
line may not be able to give Goff the time to find him quite as often.
Adams
(33 vs 24) – TD% and target share seem slightly unsustainable.
Evans
(34 vs 27) – Soft tissue issues already popping up in San
Fran, new team, and age all working against him.

Not
a lot of big differences here, Addison seems weirdly undervalued with a
bounce back expected in Minnesota, Diggs and Tyson are
differences built more on news being fresh than major disagreements, Godwin
is older and in a passing game I think has more depth and breadth of options. Johnston
is a player who I really like and want to end up in the top-40 WRs because I’ve
believed in him coming out but the current ADP seems to be pricing in only
upside and that worries me. Kirk is older and was hit or miss in Houston
last year but I think there are very realistic scenarios in which he is the 2nd
most consistent receiver this year… that said it’s not a hard set position. Jeudy
is the best veteran receiver on the Browns, the moves and depth chart suggest
Tillman is the odd man out with Boston and Concepcion coming in. Even if he’s not
the lead option I think he’s a solid and steady performer in this offense.

Let’s
just focus on the players outside the top-100 in positional ADP/not in the ADP
data players…
Slayton
might be the WR2 on this roster behind and is at worst WR4 in my mind as we
close in on the season.
Harris
is the WR3 for the Chargers, if we think the offense is going to be more high
flying he should see a sizeable leap year 2.
ADP
was grabbed before the Higgins injury but I think the role comes down to Hutchinson
and Bond and I lean towards the vet.
Hollins
may end up being shuffled with the changes to the receiving corps but he was a
safety blanket for Maye last year and I think that means a role remains.
Tolbert
seems to be letting his shot at being the true WR1 on the Dolphins slip but he’s
the only solid vet on the team.
Iosivas
is the WR3 in a Cincy offense we expect to be firing on all cylinders and there
isn’t much on the roster to take away his target share.
