Day Two Analysis and Grades

Day two the day that will impact a franchise for the next 5-7 years and will be the base on which the franchise is built. I was excited for it and it came out as good as expected.

Round Two

Trade: Giants get 33 from the Titans for 40, 108, 245 Grades: NYG: B TEN: B

33) New York Giants (From Tennessee) | Landon Collins, S, Alabama | The mock I ran out of time on had Collins going to Tennessee here so I was on the right track. 1st round talent with injury concerns and more of an in the box safety. Grade: A-

34) Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Donovan Smith, OT, Penn State | Smith is very intriguing athlete, but anyone who watched Penn State last season will have questions about him. He needs to show he is committed to work on his trade to make this a wise pick down the road. Grade: C+

35) Oakland Raiders | Mario Edwards Jr, DL, Florida State | Edwards has a great pedigree, but he was an inconsistent performer on the edge. He will make flash plays in the run game but he needs to show he can pass rush. Grade: B-

36) Jacksonville Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon, RB, Alabama | Oooh, they knew who they wanted. Yeldon is a big high runner, who makes one cut and goes. He isn't the most dynamic runner but he makes the cut and runs well. This is a deep running back class and Yeldon isn't the best of 'em. Grade: C

37) New York Jets | Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State | Smith is a burner who can take the top off the defense. He was very productive at Ohio State and can high point the ball. Think Torrey Smith with less DPI necessary. Gives the Jets the Marshall/Decker compliment they needed. Grade: B+

38) Washington RedskinsPreston Smith, DE Mississippi State | Big athlete from Miss State really showed off a great athletic build. Should be a really good DE and should be able to play 3 tech in sub packages. Grade: B-

39) Chicago Bears | Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State | I like Goldman more than Edwards and at a more scarce position. Goldman should be a nice addition to a defense that is moving to a 3-4 defense this off-season with a new staff. Should stuff up at NT and two-gap well. Grade: B+

40) Tennessee Titans (From New York (N)) | Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri | He's here because of his domestic violence issues. Outside of that he adds a vertical threat to Titans to pair up with Kendall Wright. Grade: C+

Trade: Panthers get 41 from the Rams for 57, 89 & 201 Grades: CAR: C+ STL: A

41) Carolina Panthers (From Washington) | Devin Funchess, WR, Michigan | Funchess is just Kelvin Benjamin with a better high point. I like that they are getting Cam weapons but mirror images of each other seems like too much of an overlap. Grade: C-

42) Atlanta Falcons | Jalen Collins, CB, LSU | Big cornerback, athletic with consistency issues. Thought he'd be a first round pick but they are starting to build up the young talent on defense for Dan Quinn to start off with and mold. Grade: B-

Trade: Texans get 43 & 229 from the Browns 51, 116 & 195 Grade: CLE: A HOU: B+

43) Houston Texans (From Cleveland) | Benardrick McKinney, OBLB, Mississippi State | I like this pick good off ball linebacker who should play the run well, he needs to work on his drops in coverage but this is a solid pick for the Texans. Grade: B-

44) New Orleans Saints | Hau'oli Kikaha, OLB, Washington | No knees but a productive player last season for Washington. We'll see how he lasts but when healthy he's a lot of fun to watch. Grade: B-

45) Minnesota Vikings | Eric Kendricks, OBLB, UCLA | One of my favorite players in this draft, Kendricks is an active inside linebacker with solid instincts and sideline to sideline speed. Very good pick for the Vikings. Grade: A

46) San Francisco 49ers | Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford | The first pure small school draftee, Tartt played safety and in a week class has a lot of intrigue and may be a candidate to move to slot corner at his size. Grade: B-

Trade: Eagles get 47 & 191 from the Dolphins for 52, 145 & 156 Grades: PHI: A MIA: B

47) Philadelphia Eagles (From Miami) | Eric Rowe, CB, Utah | Love this pick, Rowe is a big corner and who played S and moved to CB last season. I think he only gets better. Grade: A+

48) San Diego ChargersDenzel Perryman, OBLB, Miami (FL) | Chargers needed help up the middle and Perryman is as good as any. A bit undersized he hits hard, with good instincts and fair athleticism he won't hamper a defense. Grade: B

49) Kansas City ChiefsMitch Morse, OT, Missouri | Morse is a versatile lineman with a good first step and some power. But he never stuck at a position and will need some time to find an identiyt. That being said he should at least be a sixth lineman. Grade: C+

50) Buffalo Bills | Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State | Darby will probably be the better of the two Seminole CBs, but he will need to become more consistent and mature for that to happen. Darby is a good athlete but will need to do a better job finding the ball in the air. Grade: B+

51) Cleveland Browns (From Houston) | Nate Orchard, Edge, Utah | Thought Cleveland might go Edge player in the first round but they find their guy after trading down in the second. Grade: B+

52)  Miami Dolphins (From Philadelphia) | Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma | Back injuries scare me with defensive linemen and Phillips has that issue. Should be able to work into the rotation, but needs to become more consistent. Grade: C+

53) Cincinnati Bengals | Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon | Another pick I really like. Fisher was my favorite tackle in the draft. I think he's the most consistent of the bunch. Fisher is athletic and a mauler. Looks like the Bengals got their new bookends. Grade: A

54) Detroit Lions | Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska | Abdullah is an undersized scat back who runs angry and can get the tough yards. He's durable, made strides on his handling of the football and was willing to participate on special teams. The Lions get a really good compliment ot Joique Bell. Grade: B+

Trade: Ravens gets 55 from the Cardinals for 58 & 158 Grade: BAL: B ARI: B

55) Baltimore Ravens (From Arizona) | Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota | Baltimore gets a really good tight end. Williams isn't the flashiest speed athlete but he's got power and was most of the Gophers offense last season. Grade: A-

56) Pittsburgh Steelers | Senquez Golson, CB, Ole Miss | Undersized with 16 career picks Golson is a mixed bag. He's agressive and a ball hawk but will he play slot or outside and if it's outside how's he gonna match-up against the big guys outside. Grade: B

57) St. Louis Rams (From Carolina) | Robert Havensteind, OT, Wisconsin | Havenstein is a mauler who slots in at RT. I like him probably could have waited. T.J. Clemmings is the bigger question with this pick I had questions but what's going on. Grade: C

58) Arizona Cardinals (From Baltimore) | Markus Golden, DE, Missouri | Good, solid player, with big production. Physical concerns but a athletic player, will be interesting if he's plays 5-tech or OLB. Grade: B-

59) Denver Broncos | Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado State | Where is Clemmings? Sambrailo was high on the board earlier in the process. An athletic tackle needs to wrk on his technique but there is talent to work with. Grade: C+

60) Dallas Cowboys | Randy Gregory, Edge, Nebraska | Off the field concerns but the Dallas have a very good structure to deal with him. One of the best edge rushers in the draft and converts speed to power better than any rusher in the draft. Grade: A+

Trade: Bucs get 61 & 128 from the Colts for 65 & 109 Grade: TB: C+ IND: B

61) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (From Indianapolis) | Ali Marpet, G, Hobart | Marpet is a very good small school prospect. who has a chance for a long career on the offensive line. This is a really nice get for the Bucs who have done a good job helping Winston in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Grade: B-

62) Green Bay Packers | Quinten Rollins, CB, Miami (OH) | I like this pick and this value better than the first round but it gets a demerit for overlapping player use. Rollins is an intriguing talent and should be a useful addition to the secondary. Grade: C+

63) Seattle Seahawks | Frank Clark, Edge, Michigan | Clark is an explosive Edge player who has a high upside but major character concerns stemming from a domestic violence issue. This is a high upside pick for Seattle but it is not without risk. Grade: B

64) New England Patriots | Jordan Richards, S, Stanford | By all accounts Richards is a very cerebral safety which is good but the Patriots have a habit of reaching on marginal talents and I think this is another case of that. Grade: C

Third Round
(Select analysis, really only ones that jumped out at me during the madness)

65) Indianapolis Colts (From Tampa Bay) | D'Joun Smith, CB, Florida Atlantic | Grade: C+

66) Tennessee Titans | Jeremiah Poutasi, OL, Utah | Grade: B+

67) Jacksonville Jaguars | A.J. Cann, G, South Carolina | Grade: A

68) Oakland RaidersClive Walford, TE, Miami (FL) | The othe top-tier TE he should be a impact in pass in run game and catches well in space and should be a nice weapon to work in for a team. Grade: A

Trade: Seahawks get 69 (Nice!) from Redskins for 95, 112, 167 &181 Grade: SEA: C+ WAS: B+

69) Seattle Seahawks (From Washington) | Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State | Grade: B+

Trade: Texans gets 70 from the Jets for 82, 152 & 229 & Devier Posey Grade: HOU: C NYJ: A

70) Houston Texans (From New York (A)) | Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State | I was never as high on Strong as most. Strong is a good reciever and this is a good spot. Grade: B

71) Chicago Bears | Hroniss Grasu, C, Oregon | Grade: A-

72) St. Louis Rams | Jamon Brown, OL, Louisville | Grade: B

73) Atlanta Falcons | Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana | Grade: B+
