Quarterback is deep
and really good up top. There are a bunch of different archetypes, a potential G.O.A.T.,
a couple potential fantasy G.O.A.T.s, and a bunch of fun options. As a reminder
you can rearrange any of the players inside a tier and I won’t quibble too much
with you. Be warned, this position is oddly chalk but there really isn’t much to
go out on a limb about.

No changes here, and outside
of some Burrow injury concerns there wasn’t much thought to moving anyone

Richardson took the
biggest jump here and that has everything to do with being named the starter,
he has huge rushing potential and has talent around him to push the ball. Taylor
being out doesn’t help but I’m not sure it hurts Richardson all that much.

This tier and the
next kind of throw me for where I should make the split but ultimately, I chose
solid if limited upside vets at in Goff/Stafford/Smith above Wilson/Carr and
the younger guys in the next tier. I think the trio finishes closer to Rodgers/Cousins/Jones
than to Love/Howell at the bottom of the next tier.

As we get to this
level, I realize how chalk I am at QB this year, I hate it. I have minor
differences of course, but nothing bigger than a handful of places through the
QB2s. Coming up there’s a couple “big” gaps but nothing that’s going to affect
much.

Big (relatively)
disagreements:
Baker Mayfield
(25 | 32) – That offense still has Godwin and Evans. I’ll bet on the weapons if
I have to take a QB3.
Brock Purdy
(29 | 23) – I just don’t get it, he averaged shy of 160 yards/game in the regular
season and just shy of 190 yards/game in the playoffs. He tried to throw 6
picks in his last healthy playoff game. He’s fine, he’s steady, and he’ll keep
the 49ers floor relatively high but the ceiling (at least on offense) relatively
low.
