Alright, here are my second set
of R.O.O.C. Rankings with my ranks and superflex ranks added to it. As a refresher
if you didn’t read the post-draft ranks or forgot… ROOC stands for (Rookie
Overall Opportunity Composite) which made a nice acronym; To put it more simply,
it’s my rankings of players from the draft adjusted for the value of their
draft slot and the roster around them. The components that go into the Ranks
are: Player Grade – rating on an
scale from 2-8 , Pick Grade – letter
grade for each pick turned into a percentage, Pick AV – the Average Approximate Value (AV) of the pick a player
was selected with, Now – Where they
sit on the teams Ourlads depth chart, End of Season (EOS) – where I think
they’ll finish the year on the depth chart, Year 3 – where I think they slot overall on a depth chart in 3 years.
The six ingredients all mix together to get a raw grade and then I adjust the
grade for positional value in fantasy football. And voila!!! A set of R.O.O.C.
ranks.
Let’s look at the normal fantasy ROOC
ranks. Brown moves up into tier and is tied with Harry. They both have
relatively little in front of them on their respective rosters and are talented
players. I’m higher on Brown than most and it’s because few players have the burst
and game changing ability of a healthy Brown. Tier 2 has a slightly over-ranked
Murray along with a trio of receiving talent. I don’t think Murray should be
this high, but he will undoubtably have the starting job and has the rushing ability
to provide better than average rookie production. Of the receivers Campbell is
my personal favorite, but Metcalf has the clearest path to substantial playing
time and Brown should at least push some players to be the number two option in
Tennessee. Tier three has a pair of Eagles, my favorite RB, the “safest” pick
in the draft, Washington’s #3, and sees us through the 1st round. Arcega-Whiteside
is the Alshon replacement so he may be a bit of a futures speculation versus an
instant return player. Sanders is in an odd spot right now, Howard has been getting
high praise from the staff to this point in the offseason program and Clement
is still the clearly entrenched receiving option on the roster, not to mention
the ever-young Darren Sproles. That said he may be the most talented back on
the roster currently. Darrell Henderson was my favorite back in this draft and
if nothing else he will be a great change of pace back with Gurley, but I believe
he can be so much more. Hockenson is one of the few rookie tight ends I think
will be useful in his rookie year, and that’ll be both in the pass and the run.
McLaurin should be the Washington #3 especially if Haskins finds his way onto
the field. He’s good enough in space and Washington just lacks talent in the
receiving corps.
Let’s go quick with tiers four
through six. Tier four has a quartet of players that I really like who should
be solid players in good not great situations: Mattison – behind Cook, Boykin –
second of two rookie receivers in a unique offense, Fant – Whatever that Denver
offense is going to be, and Isabella – not sure what role he’ll play early on
with Fitz in the slot and Butler/Kirk most likely fulfilling the outside role.
Tier five is an Iowa State special with Butler and Montgomery. I’m much lower
on Montgomery than most as I think Davis is a block and that his top end
athleticism is going to happen his overall production at the next level. He and
Singletary are going to be real litmus tests for vision/anticipation vs athletic
testing thresholds. As for Butler, Arizona needs a bigger consistent option on
the outside and Butler is that. Tier six is… large. Hardman is the one that is
too low, he’s 80% Brown talent-wise but the arguments for him are very similar
to those for Brown but in a much more prolific offense. The rest of the tier are
QBs with a chance to start sooner rather than later and #2 backs. So, there we
are six tiers, 31 players, 12 RBs, 12 WRs, 3 TEs, 4 QBs.
