2021 Fantasy Football - Post-Draft R.O.O.C. Ranks

Alright, here are my post draft Post draft R.O.O.C. rankings are here and as always you are guaranteed to agree with all of it. ROOC stands for (Rookie Overall Opportunity Composite) which made a nice acronym to put it more simply it’s my rankings of players from the draft adjusted for the value of their draft slot and the roster around them. The components that go into the Ranks are: Player Grade – rating on an scale from 2-8 , Pick Grade – letter grade for each pick turned into a percentage, Pick AV – the Average Approximate Value (AV) of the pick a player was selected with, Now – Where they sit on the teams Ourlads depth chart, End of Season (EOS) – where I think they’ll finish the year on the depth chart, Year 3 – where I think they slot overall on a depth chart in 3 years. The six ingredients all mix together to get a raw grade and then I adjust the grade for positional value in fantasy football. And voila!!! A set of R.O.O.C. ranks.

Standard R.O.O.C. ranks devalue quarterbacks as well as they can and with this year’s draft seeing quite a bit of offensive skill talent taken in the first round we get a better looking set of ranks than the last few year. That said, QBs will always be a little higher than I like because of AV the component but that said I think Lawrence’s talent and Lance’s position make them safe long-term assets in dynasty. Color changes are tiers, so let’s break down some intrigue.

Standard Tier 1 (1-3) is pretty straight forward, good top 10 drafted WRs are long term commodities that should hold value well. You can argue with me about the order, but I don’t think you’ll get too much quibble about the trio.

Tier 2 (4-7) has our two first round RBs, Lawrence, and WR4. Some will bump the RBs up to tier 1 and I understand the impulse, but Harris’s age and Etienne’s backfield situation make me wary. Bateman lands in an interesting spot but many will need proof of concept before committing to Bateman and that passing game.

Tier 3 (8-10) brings what will be the most argued about player in rookie drafts, start-ups, and redraft leagues. I understand why many will put him at player 1 in standard leagues. In fact, I think you could argue that Pitts should jump Lawrence and Bateman, but I’d still take the first round RBs and top 10 WRs over him based on traditional production at those positions and the assumption that Pitts performs at all-time levels. I don’t love Toney at 10 either and think you could make a good case that those top 8 are where the drop-off is in standard leagues.

Tier 4 (11-22) is our first big tier with Moore and Marshall headlining a tier where my graded favorites get bumped up but hey, I graded players for a reason. I’m lower on Marshall than many but he’s WR3 this season in Carolina. I’ll be higher on Moore (Grade), Sermon (Grade/Situation), Brown (Grade/Situation), Collins (Situation), and St. Brown (Grade/Situation).

Tier 5 (23-25) a trio of RBs round out the fifth tier and I personally like them Gainwell/Stevenson/Hubbard but think all fill secondary roles well in their new landing spots.

2QB R.O.O.C. tiers take on a bit of a different flare with QBs rising up the board fast…

Tier 1 (1) – Lawrence is surefire here for me even with Lance’s landing spot and R.O.O.C. agrees.

Tier 2 (2-7) sees a surprise with two WRs staying above Lance and Smith staying above Fields. All three staying ahead of their respective QBs because of player, and pick, grades. I personally have the four QBs next, but this is a about the R.O.O.C. ranks.

Tier 3 (8-11) finishes out the top 5 QBs with Jones getting a discount due to going middle of the first round. He’s joined by the two first round QBs and Bateman. Making this tier straight forward and agreeable.

Tier 4 (12-16) sees Pitts, again in 2QB you could make a case to me that Pitts should be ninth behind Jones or say sixth behind the top 5 QBs but before any other skill player I would absolutely understand. Trask sneaks up to this point as a second round pick due to QB value, while Toney, Moore, and Marshall cement their WR tier.

Tier 5 (17-28) Mond and Mills move up considerably because of the added QB value as early third round picks, and that value adjustment brings tier four and five of the standard ranks together former a larger tier spanning Sermon to Stevenson.

Lastly, we have my two sets of ranks compared to the R.O.O.C. ranks above and they’re sorted by the 2QB R.O.O.C. ranks but you’ll notice two big jumps for Khalil Herbert, Simi Fehoko, and Elijah Mitchell. Herbert landed in a really nice spot as a challenger in the Bears backfield, Fehoko ended up in Dallas where he’s got a chance to challenge for WR4 reps, and Mitchell who’s buried early on the 49ers depth chart but would be a nice flyer as we’ve seen the RB4 in San Fran make an impact.
