Draft grades are here
and the to start we have a table with what goes into my grades as well as the grades
for each team. After that I’ll have some comments on each class.
Key: Picks
(# of selections), Ave. Grade (Average grade by me of the class), Ave NAAG (Average
positionally and scarcity adjusted grade), Total AV (Expected value of a teams
picks), Ave. We. Grade (Average grade with round weight applied), Trade (Standard
deviation of value gained or lost from trades), Draft Grade (Numerical grade of
each class), Letter Grade (Corresponding letter grade of each class)

Oh and as always draft
grades don’t matter, you should give a draft class three seasons before
condemning it but… it is great fun and I find it a nice review and time honored
testament to our collective stupidity! Enjoy.

Favorite Pick – Zaven Collins (OBLB) – Collins was one of my favorite defensive players
in the draft at just shy of 260 pounds he plays fluidly in space and should
be able to situationally rush the passer on the edge if required. |

Favorite Pick – Drew Dalman (OC) – Dalman was
a solid player for the Cardinals and moves well. He should help strengthen a
line that still needed help last year. This wasn’t Pitts because I think with
all the holes on this team it seemed like a hugely luxury pick even if it
wasn’t a bad pick. |

Favorite Pick – Rashod Bateman (WR) –
Bateman was a top 20 player in this class and WR 4 he should add
a larger, if not completely large, option to this receiving corps but even
more short area quickness that should work well with what Lamar does well as
a quarterback. |

Favorite Pick – Justin Fields (QB) -
What can I say I really loved the Bears draft picks this year even
if my grading system is a bit harsher because of trades and the overall value
at some positions. Fields is probably worth the trouble with value lost in
the trade up to 11 and he’s a steal this late in a first round where he could,
and should, have gone at 7,8, or 9. |

Favorite Pick – JaMarr Chase (WR) – Even though I thought they should have gone with an
offensive tackle I don’t have a huge issue with Chase especially as I had Chase
as the 3rd rated prospect in the class and building a great
receiving corps should help with Burrow’s ability to speed processing and get
the ball out quickly. |

Owusu-Koramoah (OBLB) – I know it came out that Owusu-Koramoah

instinct and fantastic athleticism. |

Favorite Pick(s) – Simi Fehoko (WR)
& Jabril Cox (OBLB) – I couldn’t decide the things that eliminate one,
eliminates the other. Both are the fourth option at their position, have a ton
of potential, and both have the talent and opportunity to have chances if injuries
or contract situations arise in the future. They are long term assets and who
provide much needed depth to a team with plenty of thin spots. |

Favorite Picks – Quinn Meinerz (OL)
– Meinerz comes from UWW a school I considered attending and stood out on
field, both in size and in the way he moved. He managed to slip to round 3
and although Surtain was a fine pick he came at the expense of acquiring what
could have been a long term solution at QB and therefore could not be my
favorite pick. |

Favorite Pick – Tedarrell Slaton (INT) –
Slaton didn’t have the production of many past interior players, but he is
explosive off the line, provides disruption, and is stout at the point of
attack. He needs some refinement, but he provides much needed depth and potential
in the Packers front seven. |

played tackle last year for the Nittany Lions but will play guard at the next

Favorite Pick – Walker Little (OT) –
This is probably Lawrence it seemed boring as shit to talk
glowingly about the #1 pick. Little on the other hand is an oft-injured
former number three overall prospect who was good when on the field. He needs
some luck in the pros but if he can stay healthy the Jags got a 1st
rounder in the mid-2nd. |

Favorite Pick - Creed Humphrey –
Humphrey was considered by many at worst a top 3 center prospect

Mahomes and should add some much needed youth upfront along with new addition
Trent Brown from Baltimore. |

Favorite Pick - Asante Samuel Jr – An
undersized corner Samuel Jr plays fast and physical with good ball skills which
left him the favorite of many in the draft community. We’ve seen the Chargers
utilize smaller corners in the past and with a creative defensive mind at the
helm I don’t see any reason to think they can’t replicate past successes. |

Favorite Pick - Jake Funk (RB) - Ooh
boy did I not like the Rams draft, but I did like Bobby Brown in the fourth

season and would be a nice depth option none-the-less. |

Favorite Pick – Jalen Phillips –
Phillips has his health problems, medically retired in 2019, but he was the
best pass rusher on film this past season and is supremely talented. Getting
him at the mid-point of the 1st round feels like a steal if he
stays healthy and a reasonable risk for a team with few holes heading into
the draft. |

Favorite Pick – Draft Day Trades – We can
stop making fun of Gettleman for never trading back and he gave his team
plenty of assets to work with in the future. Hopefully for Giants fans he won’t
be making those picks as he is one of the GMs in which I have the least faith
but good on him for making some very competent moves during the draft. |

Favorite Pick – Elijah Moore (WR) – One of
my favorite players in the draft and a player I was hoping the Packers would
take goes to a semi-confusing landing spot. Hopefully this signals a more
wide open attack because otherwise he’s stuck behind Jamison Crowder at slot
and that would be a shame. |

Favorite Pick – Kenny Gainwell (RB) –
Gainwell was part of a quartet of skill talent that came through
Memphis in the past couple of seasons including Pollard, Henderson and Gibson.
He’s a good athlete with versatile skills and adds a bigger body to the
Eagles backfield and another wrinkle in what has the potential to be a very
interesting offense over the next couple of seasons. |

Favorite Pick - Kendrick Green – Green
was one of my favorite watches in a hectic run up to the draft. He covered
ground well and reached tackles on zone plays that I did not think would be
reached. He should immediately upgrade the Steelers interior line that
struggled to provide much support in the run game last season. |

a similar role to Metcalf in this style of the spread, Brown doesn’t have the
