Alright, my second
and final rookie rankings. The last set caused a great conversation and this
one with tweaks should too. The first thing to note is Joe Mixon at 4. My ROOC
number has him at 17, but it’s held down because of where he was drafted and my
own grade of the pick which both take into account off the field issues that
doesn’t necessarily belong in a pure fantasy football conversation.

Outside of Mixon the
first change we see is the flipping of Watson/Mahomes, Howard/Williams and
Taylor/Hunt all switched due to minor changes in depth charts. Our first big
change is the ascension of ArDarius Stewart. With the Decker trade and Enunwa injury
Stewart moves way up the depth chart and becomes a semi-viable option in 2017.
Yes, the QB situation is bad, but he’s going to see time early and there isn’t
nearly as much in his path as there was right after the draft. JuJu
Smith-Schuster drops below Godwin/Foreman/Smith/Perine/Conner, with Jonnu Smith
popping up above Perine and Conner from the last ranking. These move around
based on what year 1 production is going to look like and outside of Carlos
Henderson Smith-Schuster is the most buried player on the depth chart. I
expanded my ranks out to a Top 36 to hit three rookie rounds in a 12-team lead
so we welcome Cooper Kupp, Ryan Switzer, Michael Roberts, Tarik Cohen and
Jeremy McNichols to the ranks. Kupp and Switzer are slot receivers who could have
impacts sooner than later for their teams. Roberts ends up in Detroit and if
his propensity for touchdowns carries over to the NFL you’re going to learn his
name very quickly. Cohen is a scat-back to add to the Bears offense and his
quick twitch abilities hopefully will be as incredible in the NFL as they were
at the FCS level. McNichols has problems in his game, but Doug Martin seems to
be wearing out his welcome in Tampa Bay and there doesn’t seem to be an
overwhelming favorite to take over in his stead.
There we go if you
still have a rookie draft hopefully this provides some use for you. If you have
a start-up ditto. If you just want to argue about rookie value I welcome the
chance, and if you just want to tell me I’m an idiot… Well that’s alright too.
