LSU and
Oklahoma State moved up over 10 spots with their wins over Auburn and Boise
State respectively. Oklahoma State may have had the most impressive win of the
week in my eyes with an absolute trouncing of a Boise State team that is legitimately
good. On the drop side, no one took a bigger hit than Northwestern who lost to
Akron at home. There’s no excuse for this what-so-ever and they took a commensurate
hit. You could argue only one other team had a worse loss this week because of
what it cost them. Wisconsin’s loss to BYU at home almost certainly eliminates
them from playoff contention. That may be harsh, but BYU is a top-60 team at
best and there’s no excuse for a team with an outside shot at the playoff and
almost certain shot at a NY6 bowl game to lose at home. Wisconsin fell 8 spots
and got out Wisconsin’d.
