2020 Fantasy Football - First Positional Rankings - Quarterbacks

Welcome to the start of my redraft fantasy season, it’s already June but I’ve been tinkering with podcasting, dynasty rankings, and the existential dread that none of this matters, and we’re all going to die.

That said let’s talk about how I did my first set of rankings. I once again did projections this year and while flawed I used them as a basis for this first set of rankings. The tiers are based on the fantasy points from those projections and then I ordered them within those tiers. Some of the cutoffs are arbitrary because, fuck it, their still my rankings after all. I still do sequential rankings but if players are in a tier, I will almost always have no qualms taking any player in that tier over anyone else.

Key for Abbreviations – Interceptions (INT), Fantasy Points (FP), Positional ADP (Pos. ADP), Difference between Pos. ADP & my rank (Diff)

Quarterbacks are up first and the first thing you’ll notice is that we’re in an incredibly deep transitional period as we transition from the Brady/Brees/Rivers/Roethlisberger era, into the twilight of the Rodgers led era, and a promising young crop of QBs that allow for almost 30 deep at the position in which you’ll probably see 18 to 24 drafted in redraft leagues.

Brady is my first relatively big difference and although I think this year will be productive for him and Tampa, but I also think there’s massive downside in a change of scenery for a 41 year old QB who’s only played in one place.

Two players I’m 8 spots different on in opposite directions for mirrored reasons. Stidham takes over a Patriots offense that has consistently thrown the ball more than their record and points differential would suggest they should, Tannehill last year played for a team that ran the ball more than their record and points differential say they should. Stidham is expected to helm an offense that focusses on running the ball and be generally inefficient, Tannehill actually helms that offense but everyone expects him and the offense to be the ungodly efficient machine we saw at the end of the season and in the playoffs. Both are QB3s for me, I know I’m going to be well on my own with regards to Tannehill.

I’m high on both Trubisky and Foles, I lean towards Trubisky winning the job to start the year and when they finally get fed up week 7 then Foles takes over, and right now with no idea how the competition shakes out I’m happy with where I have them. As far as Hill, no he isn’t the heir apparent to Brees, but he’s a useful asset especially when compared to some of the NFL backups in front of him who won’t put up any points independent an injury.
