2023 NFL Draft - Mock Drafts - 3 Round Mock + Who I'd Pick

Side by side comparison of my mock draft (predictive) and what I’d do. I have two trades in my mock and none in what I’d do this comes down to team needs lining up with my valuation pretty well and scuttle butt/hitting a wall in the predictive mock. I did 3 rounds on the predictive mock just to get every accustomed with more names and because I had the time.

Who I'd Pick

1

CAR

Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

CAR

Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

2

HOU

Will Anderson Jr, Edge, Alabama

HOU

C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State

3

ARI

Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech

ARI

Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

4

IND

Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

IND

Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

Mock: These four seem to be the general shape of most mock drafts and Richardson, although a bit of a stretch, I think the upside is incredible and worth it here.

WIP: I think Young and Stroud are both clearly worth the draft capital and think Houston should take the QB they like if they like one. In sticking with my big board and team needs Gonzalez and Witherspoon as the top corners made the grade.

PHI

Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia

11

SEA

Lukas Van Ness, Edge, Iowa

TEN

Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

Mock: The rumor mill has Tennessee moving up for a QB they really like and here with Seattle seemed the most natural spot in the flow of everything. So, after the Titans move up for Stroud, Withespoon Is near unanimous to the Lions, I went against the grain giving the Falcons Gonzalez (Bijan being a popular pick here), Chicago gets their guy to fall at 9, Philly gets a Reddick-esque edge and Seattle splurges on a physical freak in Van Ness.

WIP: Seattle gets a wonderful player at 5, Detroit gets a interior beast, Atlanta tries to land an edge player finally, Chicago protects Fields, and Tennessee doesn’t need to jump up to get their QB.

Who I'd Pick

Trade: HOU trades 12 & 104 to TB for 19 and ’24 1st

12

TB

Will Levis, QB, Kentucky

HOU

Jaxson Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State

13

GB

Jaxson Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State

GB

Quentin Johnson, WR, TCU

14

15

NYJ

Peter Skoronski, IOL, Northwestern

NYJ

Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

16

WAS

Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

WAS

Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State

Mock: Where Richardson falls to Tennessee in my what I’d do, Tampa jumps up to get their Brady replace and Mayfield usurper. After Levis Packers fans finally get a first-round receiver, the Pats replenish at corner, the Jets try and help protect Rodgers, and Washington tries to shore up tackle as well.

WIP: Houston snipes the Packers for Smith-Njigba, but the Packers still get a bigger receiver in Johnson, New England gets a different corner but a player Bill can mold, the Jets are still concerned with protecting Rodgers, and Washington adds some desperately needed secondary help.

SEA

Calijah Kancey, INT, Pittsburgh

21

LAC

Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas

LAC

Trenton Simpson, OBLB, Clemson

Mock: Pittsburgh gets a really good RT (wasn’t pretty on the left in 2021), Detroit gets a really good sturdy TE, Houston gets a hard-nosed slot, Seattle swings on a big at times freaky interior lineman, and the Chargers draft their Ekeler replacement.

WIP: Pittsburgh adds a steady, athletic corner, Detroit goes south of the border and adds a fundamentally sound and productive edge, Tampa starts to rebuild a defense that slipped a bit the last couple years, Seattle goes freaky but undersized on the interior, and the Chargers add one more athletic piece to a defense that’s so close to being elite.

WIP: Baltimore adds one more piece for Jackson and a guy that reminds a bit of Steve Smith and his want to fight everyone, Jacksonville protects Lawrence on the interior, with the Giants and Cowboys doing the same for Jones and Dak.

Mock: Buffalo gives Josh Allen a potential start backfield mate, the Bengals help out a depleted secondary, New Orleans replenish at pass rusher, Philly gets a lineman I’m not as enamored with as some but at worst a good rotation piece, and KC invests in protecting Mahomes.

WIP: To finish out my first round the Bills add some interior pressure, Cincy gives Burrow my top tight end and a 3 down in-line or split out player, New Orleans repeats my interpretation of reality, Philly adds a 280-pound lineman who ran 4.49 (the rich get richer) and KC adds a big speedy receiver in Mingo.
