Trying something different here with this set of rankings. Since there’s been movement but not massive amounts I decided I wanted to look at the changes we do see both from my ranks last time to this time (new projection here), but also the differences in positional ADP from last time to this time. QB is deep, and you should be able to find QBs early, middle, and late that you like who are good options.

Same Top 6 as last time, with a bit
of shuffling, for both me and ADP. Seems we’re all set with our top half of
the QB1s and that’s terrifying. |

Alright finally some differences,
well at least between me and ADP. These five are the same just shuffled a bit
for me and I’m slightly higher on Wentz/Rodgers/Stafford but nothing too
major as to start yelling about. |

We get our first, slightly major
difference between me and ADP at 13 and Tom Brady. I don’t think Brady will
be bad or anything like that, but I think ultimately his upside is limited by
his age and adjusting to new confines. Also, of note is the positioning of Cam
Newton. He’s almost certainly mis-ranked, Newton’s upside is a top 3-5 option,
his downside is last season. My point being that he almost certainly won’t
end up as a fringe QB1, high end QB2, but a hedge is needed, and where he’s
being drafted he has the potential to decide leagues. |

I’m having trouble this year with
what to do with the QBs that are aging out. We know that when the drop-off
happens it happens generally quickly, and permanently, and Brady, Brees, Rivers,
and Roethlisberger are all nearing the ends of their careers and it will be
interesting how that affects things. I don’t hate Brees but he’s seen a decrease
in since throwing the ball 674 times in 2016, they haven’t topped 550 in a
year in which Brees has played at least 15 games and last year he threw 378
times in 11 games which put him on pace for 549 passes. There seems to be a
concerted effort to take more and more off Brees’ shoulders and for me that
means I would prefer to take a shot on much greater upside while approaching or
surpassing the same floor. |
