Watch guide for CFB week 2, just
a Friday Saturday slate with NFL opening day being Thursday night. On Friday Marshall
at Boise State (8:00 pm ESPN2) is the only game of non-gambling interest.

Early Slate (11:00 am -12:00 pm)
Cincinnati at Ohio State (11:00
am, ABC)
Should tell us a lot more of the
stability and consistency of both teams after good opening game.
Army at Michigan (11:00 am, FOX)
We all remember the shock Army
gave Oklahoma last season and their trip to Ann Arbor shouldn’t be as surprising,
and it won’t be pretty, but it will almost certainly be close.
Syracuse at Maryland (11:00 am,
ESPN) & West Virginia at Missouri (11:00 am, ESPN2)
This is your third screen game
incase the first two get really out of hand, but it should start to help us
sort out the middle tier of both conferences.
Lastly, your early FCS upset
alert is Kennessaw Sate at Kent State (11:00 am, ESPN3)
Midday Slate (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
Texas A&M at Clemson (2:30 pm,
ABC)
The midday slate is sparse, but
we do get this gem. Much like last year’s game this should be a barn burner and
is one of the few realistic chances at a loss on Clemson’s schedule. Being at
home they should win by a couple scores and A&M sets off an every other
week stretch in which they get Clemson, Auburn, and Alabama. This is your best
shot for fireworks in the afternoon.
Nebraska at Colorado (2:30 pm,
FOX)
I included this game because it’s
close by my system, Vegas has it as a 3.5 point game and I don’t think any of
us quite know what Nebraska or Colorado are this year.
FCS upset alert at noon is Southern
Illinois at UMASS (2:30 pm).
Evening Slate (6:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
LSU at Texas (6:30 pm, ABC)
Texas and LSU came off solid
performances against Louisiana Tech and Georgia Southern respectively but this
will be the first litmus test for two fan bases that are on edge. Does LSU have
an actual offense? Is Texas back? We’ll get one step closer on Saturday.
Miami (FL) at North Carolina (7:00
pm, ACCN)
Miami was inconsistent week one
against Florida but generally a positive surprise in a game they should have
been blown up in, North Carolina upset rival South Carolina in Charlotte in a
thriller that saw a bumble of blunders late in the game. Much like Cuse/Maryland
in the early slate this should help us get a better idea of what the ACC looks like
in its giant middle class in 2019.
Late Night Slate (9:00 pm – Midnight)
California at Washington (9:30
pm, FS1)
Stanford at USC (9:30 pm, ESPN)
If you’re noticing a patter so am
I… so let’s call this A Tinge of Clarity Saturday. That goes for the Pac-12,
even though I don’t think Washington or Stanford ends up in too close a game, I
think we should get a much better idea of what the Huskies and Cardinal are
going to be. Stanford/USC loses its luster with the loss of Daniels obviously,
but it’ll still be worth a watch.
Minnesota at Fresno State (9:30
pm, CBSSN)
Fresno gets a second chance at a
P5 win and a chance to avenge their 21-14 loss on the road at Minnesota last
season. P.J. Fleck’s team will be looking to prove they’re the contender that
everyone thinks they can be in the Big Ten West, but it will require a much
better performance than they had in the opener against South Dakota State.
Oregon State at Hawaii (10:45 pm)
When you get a chance to
watch Hawaii, do it. Plus, they might get to 2-0 in the Pac-12.
