So, we tried something new this week
and it came out alright. Imade five “best” bets for the week And they were as
follows:
Army +22.5 at Michigan
Syracuse +110 at Maryland
Coastal Carolina +7.5 at Kansas
Texas Tech -34.5 vs UTEP
Southern Illinois +145 at UMASS
Kennesaw State +145 at Kent State
Note: I didn’t specify how we
were going to track this, but I’ll give myself a $10,000 bankroll and a one
unit bet will be 100 dollars.
These picks went 4-2 this week
overall which saw $600 in bets turn into $617.73 (or a profit of $17.73) and an
ROI of 2.95%. New bankroll - $10,017.73
Note (9/11): I screwed this calculation up, after week 1 we're actually up $217.73 in profit as the bets would have returned $817.73. Bringing our New Bankroll to $10,217.73

The Army-Michigan game played out
pretty much how I expected. Army played methodical triple option ball and
limited total possessions and Michigan was unable to be efficient enough to cover.
Army has now taken two straight blue bloods to overtime and gets the Sooners
again next year at home.
Syracuse-Maryland
did not play out how I expected. And all props go to Maryland, they played good
defense and took advantage of a putrid Syracuse defense that looked like it had
no interest in being there. The only disappointment I have is that this result
takes luster of the Syracuse-Clemson game coming this week.
I want to preface my gloating by
saying I love Les Miles and what he brings to college football but his deficiencies
in game management are even more glaring when he’s working with suboptimal
talent and it showed in the fourth quarter of this week’s game against Coastal
Carolina.
Not much to say here, UTEP is as
bad as expected and for Tech it looks like new coach same offensive prowess, at
least in year 1.
And lastly, our two FCS upsets.
Southern Illinois did their part beating a poor UMASS team that is lost in the
wilderness of independence. As for Kennesaw, they just barely disappointed dropping
to Kent State 26-23 in overtime.
A good showing in it’s first
week, hopefully we can continue being on the right side of the ledger as the
season progresses.
