2019 College Football: Week 3 - Best Bets

Our bankroll is now at $10, 017, a 1-unit bet is still worth $100. I found this week’s slate to be pretty well adjusted by the oddsmakers making it a bit tougher to find best I’m extremely sure of.

Let’s start in Orland where UCF -8 hosts Stanford. Stanford has had trouble moving the ball this season with and without K.J. Costello and now without both starting OTs Stanford is going to have to play much better on defense than they did against USC and UCF is much more established, in so far as an offensive identity goes. I would bet this up to 9.5 or 10 for UCF.
Next isn’t a good game but we’re not looking for entertainment, we’re looking for winners. Charlotte -20 hosts UMASS. I got to this one when it was still -19 but UMASS is a bad football team and Charlotte is at least showing some semblance of baseline confidence. Slim margins on this one with it already so close to a key number (21) but I’d bet it up to 21 and feel alright with it.
Oklahoma -23 has moved up a bit since open, but UCLA is absolutely putrid, and Oklahoma is… the opposite. I’ll probably bet against Oklahoma continuing its early season dominance but not this week. Oklahoma should control every aspect of this game and win by 4 touchdowns. Bet this up to 24 responsibly but I don’t think you’d have too much to worry about up to 28.
Heading back to Friday night I’m going to test fate with Wake -3 have bet against UNC twice this year already. I think Miami & South Carolina are above averaged but fatally flawed teams but UNC deserves credit for taking advantage. Wake isn’t sexy but should be fundamentally sound and efficient in this game. Don’t take it too much higher than three but on or below is a solid bet.
Lastly, we head to the last FBS game of the day, Texas Tech -2 at Arizona. Khalil Tate looks like he’s still not healthy, and I think this game looks like a slightly more lopsided replay of the Arizona Hawaii game. Tech wins 35-31 with a late Tate touchdown to make it more uncomfortable than the game leading up to it would have led you to believe. I’d feel comfortable take Tech up to -4.5.

So there we are five straight up bets this week, risking $500 to win $454.55. Happy picking and enjoy the football.
