Alright
Week 6 is here and it’s a week of college football… just kidding it’s gonna be
great.
Weekday
Slate (Thursday &Friday)
The weekday
slate is pretty weak as Georgia Southern and Temple should have an easy go of
it on Thursday. And San Jose State/New Mexico will be close for all the wrong
reasons.
Cincinnati
at UCF (7:00 pm, ESPN)
This
is the only game of real interest midweek with preseason darling Cincinnati looking
less Cinderella than previously thought and UCF having the Pitt scourge attached
to them. These are still top contenders in the AAC, but this game will
certainly start the redemption tour for the winner.

Early
Slate (11:00 am to 11:30 am)
TCU
at Iowa State (11:00 am, ESPN2)
Iowa
State hosts TCU a week after a disappointing loss on the road against Baylor. TCU
for their part got back on track against Kansas. We’re still waiting for the
middle of the Big XII to sort itself out and this is one of three games that
should give us a better idea of what that looks like.
Iowa
at Michigan (11:00 am, Find it Online)
An
Iowa loss on the road at Michigan makes their margin of error against Wisconsin
all that much tighter. For Michigan a loss to Iowa all but eliminates them in
the Big Ten East race as it would put them two losses back of both Penn State
and Ohio State and start the hot seat talk in Ann Arbor.
Utah
State at LSU (11:00 am, SEC Network)
This
one is on the list because there isn’t much interesting early in the day, and
from a NFL Draft standpoint it will be very intriguing to see Jordan Love of
Utah State against a high caliber defense. So, come for a QB battle weighted
heavily in the favor of the big school QB.
Midday
Slate (2:00 pm to 3:30 pm)
Auburn
at Florida (2:30 pm, CBS)
On a
relatively weak Saturday slate this is a good one. Florida does have a backup QB
and against the stellar Auburn front will face his toughest test to date. Auburn
has been more consistent than in recent seasons with solid wins against A&M
and Oregon and took care of Tulane and Kent State handily. This is the must
watch game of the day.
Texas
at West Virginia (2:30 pm, ABC)
Baylor
at Kansas State (2:30 pm, ESPN2)
I’m
going to lump these two together because they are part of our continued expedition
to find out what the hierarchy of the Big XII is. Baylor is undefeated so far
this season, Texas lost to LSU, Kansas State lost last week to Oklahoma State,
and West Virginia lost to Missouri and have oscillated between really bad and competent.
Western
Michigan at Toledo (2:30 pm, ESPN+)
This
one should be a showdown for the top spot in the MAC West. WMU has a conference
win over CMU last week but both have been solid teams this season and get their
toughest conference test early in the season.
Evening
Slate (5:00 pm to 7:00 pm)
Tulsa
at SMU (6:30 pm, ESPNU)
This
one should be pointsy fun and another good test of SMU.
Pittsburgh
at Duke (7:00 pm, ACC Network)
What
does the middle of the ACC look like, and much like the Big XII, does it just
include everybody? Well, Duke looks like they are better than expected post
Daniel Jones. Pitt took down UCF, and Penn State to the wire but looks ridiculously
similar to what we expect Pitt to look like.
Late
Night Slate (8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)
Oregon
State at UCLA (8:00 pm, Find it Online)
It’s
#Pac12AfterDark between two bad but improving teams to end up your College
Football Saturday.
